How to Use Regrouper

Auto-Consolidate

  1. Select one or more shape layers with multiple groups (typically from an Illustrator import)
  2. Click the Regrouper button
  3. Groups with matching fill/stroke settings are consolidated based on their stacking order

Manual Merge

  1. Select 2 or more groups you want to merge
  2. Alt/Option + click the Regrouper button
  3. Selected groups are consolidated into groups labelled by color.

What It Matches

Regrouper considers groups identical if they share:

  • Fill color
  • Stroke color
  • Stroke width
  • Line caps and joins
  • Miter limit
  • Dashes
  • Fill/stroke order (fill-over-stroke vs stroke-over-fill)

Disabled fills and strokes are ignored.

Liquid error: Nil location provided. Can't build URI.

Installation

Copy the Regrouper.jsx file into your After Effects ScriptUI Panels folder, then restart After Effects.
